4. Add the chicken pieces into the pot and stir for about 5-6 minutes until the chicken is cooked through.
5. Add the cinnamon sticks, bay leaves, chili powder, cardamom pods, cloves, and salt into the pot. Stir until the spices are evenly distributed.
6. Add the soaked rice into the pot and stir until the rice is coated with the spice mixture.
7. Pour in the water and stir to make sure everything is mixed together.
8. Cover the pot with a lid and let it cook on low heat for 20-25 minutes. Make sure to check the pot occasionally to make sure that the rice is not sticking to the bottom.
9. Turn off the heat and let the pot sit for another 10-15 minutes with the lid still on.
10. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve with your favorite side dishes or toppings.
